SNHU Announces Honor Roll for 2026 C-1 (Jan - Mar)
Southern New Hampshire University congratulates the following students on being named to the Honor Roll for the 2026 C-1 (Jan - Mar) term. Honor Roll is a term-specific achievement that recognizes learners who excel at SNHU. It was established in 2022 to help recognize academic excellence in our part-time and graduate learners. Eligibility for the SNHU Honor Roll requires full-time or part-time undergraduate, graduate, or coursework only online or campus students to earn an academic grade point average (GPA) of 3.5 or higher for an individual term. Please note: Full-time undergraduate students who receive the Honor Roll may also be eligible for the President's List or Dean's List. Honor Roll is awarded at the end of each term, while the President's List and Dean's List are recognized at the end of the 16-week campus terms or following paired 8-week terms for online students. While acknowledgment of the Honor Roll is an achievement, it is not a recognized university honor and has no bearing on eligibility for honor societies, Latin honors, or ceremonial honors at the time of conferral or during the Commencement ceremony, nor will it be noted on the student's academic transcript or diploma. Please see the university catalog for policies specific to Latin and ceremonial honors.

Media and Politics Class curates voter education exhibition on campus
The Miller Gallery at Alvernia University became a hub of civic engagement this fall as the Media and Politics class, led by Professor of Communication and Digital Media Dr. Jodi Radosh and Professor of Political Science Dr. Victoria Williams, unveiled the voter education exhibition. The display, carefully curated by students seeks to educate the campus community about the importance of voting and media literacy during the election season. "We've been doing this class every four years for quite some time. It's our chance to team-teach and really delve into media and politics, especially around presidential elections," said Radosh. "This semester, we wanted to go beyond classroom discussions and create something tangible-a project that helps spread awareness of key issues and the power of voting, both on campus and in the broader community." The interactive exhibition highlights various facets of political media and the importance of informed voting, aiming to equip students with the tools to navigate today's complex media landscape. "In this class, we educate students on what media is, how it works, and how politics and media are intertwined," said Williams. "A key focus is developing skills in media literacy so students can better understand media bias and find credible sources of information. This project has been a great way for students to apply these skills in real-time." The display features in-depth posters created by each student to highlight the presidential candidates' takes on pressing issues. It also has different marketing materials and posters from each candidate, custom Alvernia "vote" pins and a selfie station with different props that encourage voting. "As a bio major, I'm not usually involved in political conversations, but this class has taught me a lot about media literacy," said junior Brianna Pascal, a biology major who participated in the project. "I feel more informed as a voter now, and I understand the importance of being able to navigate political information." The project also drew alumni support. Jason Hugg, founder of Berks Weekly, returned to share his experiences from the field and answer students' questions. "It's always great to give back to Alvernia and share my behind-the-scenes experiences from rallies and events. Voting is so important, not just for students, but for the community as a whole. I'm really impressed with how the students have put together this exhibition to encourage each other to vote."

Over 40 Alvernia students join new Pickleball Club
Over 40 students joined the Pickleball Club in its debut semester. The club allows members to participate in weekly practices, monthly tournaments, and volunteer opportunities. It began after President Jack Natalino and Vice President Quincy Esannason took a physical education pickleball course. They found their passion for the sport through the class and felt it could become a permanent opportunity for students to exercise and socialize in a stress-free environment. "It's really good for stress for me because I'm a DPT major. I'm constantly doing homework and studying, so it's great to get out and just get some exercise and have some fun," said Natalino. "It's a great platform to meet new people and form good friendships. I thought it would be some small thing, maybe like a couple of my friends, but I've met at least 20 to 30 people through the Pickleball Club. Everyone's very nice to each other; I just see a bunch of smiles." What began as an idea between friends has developed into a thriving pickleball community. The club was awarded the Registered Student Organization of the Year by the Student Government Association for being one of the most popular and active clubs on campus. "It was so cool to see how pickleball got so many people together; I have never seen so many students show up to a club-organized event," said Greta Bender. "Being a part of this club, I get to support my best friend Jack and I get to have fun playing with my closest friends." In addition to providing a fun atmosphere for students to become active and meet new people, the club is also committed to giving back to the community. Their most recent service efforts involved collaborating with the IM ABLE Foundation, which provides opportunities for individuals with disabilities to participate in physical activity. The club was able to set up pickleball nets at IM ABLE's 2024 Bash event and teach and play pickleball with participants. "I had not had the opportunity to have a lot of community service in high school, so it was a new experience for me, and I loved it," said Natalino. "We made sure everybody had everything they needed, we played some games with the kids... They were having fun; it was great to see." The last tournament of the year on May 2nd wrapped up the club's successful first semester. The club leaders plan to build upon its success in the following school year with practices, monthly tournaments with prizes, finding more service opportunities and giving back to the community.

227 Kutztown University student-athletes honored as 2022-23 PSAC Scholar-Athletes
It was another outstanding year in the classroom for Kutztown University student-athletes, with 227 being named Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) Scholar-Athletes, the league office announced Wednesday afternoon. The 2022-23 academic year marks the fourth in a row that the Golden Bears have eclipsed the 200 honoree mark. In order to be eligible for PSAC Scholar-Athlete honors, student-athletes must maintain a cumulative GPA of at least 3.25. The conference instituted a new policy this year, honoring athletes meeting the academic requirement in only PSAC sponsored sports. This change directly affected Kutztown's acrobatics & tumbling and women's bowling teams, which do not compete under the PSAC banner. Acrobatics & tumbling is part of the National Collegiate Acrobatics & Tumbling Association (NCATA) and does not have a conference affiliation, while women's bowling is an associate member of the East Coast Conference (ECC). Bowlers are eligible to be named to the ECC Commissioner's Honor Roll, which is usually released in late July. Previous recipients were also affected from various sports that the PSAC doesn't sponsor at other institutions, resulting in a drop of overall honorees across the conference's 18 institutions to 3,795. The percentage of honorees among all student-athletes remained consistent at 52% (3,794-of-7,319) compared to last year's 53%.
